A common rule: divide your ceiling height by 2 for the spacing between lights (e.g., 8 ft ceiling → 4 ft spacing). For kitchens we plan around islands and prep zones. We will sketch a layout before installing.
Yes — high or vaulted ceilings need brighter fixtures (more lumens) and careful beam-angle selection. We may also recommend dimmer-compatible drivers for ambiance. Vaulted ceilings need fixtures rated for that angle.
Adding new circuits or running new wiring typically requires a permit. Swap-outs of existing fixtures usually do not. We will let you know what is required and pull the permit if needed.
You can replace an existing fixture in the same can — but cutting holes, running wires, fishing through insulation, and tying into circuits is licensed electrician work. DIY installs often miss IC-rating, vapor-barrier, and code requirements and can be a fire risk.
